Description

Finally was able to put together what I think will be the base for Sahmika's room. Sorry about the file size and quality, this took 40 minutes to render at this size and seemed to finish early even though I set it to run much longer. I had to use strong smoothing and more painterly filters than I might normally use to get rid of the grain.  I'm not going to attempt to render this again until I have a new video card (and figuring out which one to buy is another huge story, I might write a journal about that asking for your advice shortly).   ;)

Anyway, let's go over some of the things in here!

* I ripped the shutters off a building from the Gatwyck set  (I think?) using the Geometry Editor, then put four of them on the window. I might replace the window with one from another building though because I want Smacky to be able to open the blinds and the windows as well to let fae in and out. I also don't understand why the window bars are not casting shadows here, maybe something to do with them being transmapped? Will have to experiment more later. Also removed the top detailing from the hutch on the left and the gothic mirror in the back using the Geometry editor so they'd fit under this roof and also to better fit the style.

* There are actually a lot of things in this scene that you can't see well from this angle: a shopping basket in the bottom hutch cupboard, a map on the far left wall, a broom and bucket in the corner, a ton of papers and books on the floor in front of the desk just out of view with a shelf and more books above that, a geometry editor-ripped door and window down the hall (they show up in the mirror from some angles), papers nailed to the walls out of view, and Smacky's old bedroll and water flask next to the hutch. Her throwing blades are also here, one on a hutch shelf and one stuck in the beam above, and her scabbards are on the left side of the hutch, one leaning up against it and one on the floor out of view. Her bracers and Briana Culaith top are the shiny things on the left side of the hutch, you can see one sword on the right side of it next to her boots, there's an hourglass, a coin chest with some scattered coins, and other clutter in the hutch, five dresses strewn all over, a bowl of apples on the desk, her diary (the red one that Eri is running off with on my journal header) under the bed, her knapsack hanging off the hutch, and the spear and shield I used in her image "All New Action" are mounted on the beam above.

* The fae are too bright here and there probably won't be three in here at once, but there will always be at least one to keep the plants healthy and provide light at night. I might have postworked the whole scene to be a little brighter than it should be, but the original was quite dark even with the Exposure set to 10.

* Only a few items have Iray shaders (mostly Smacky's gear and anything metal). It would obviously take a really long time to optimize all these surfaces, and I'll wait to do that until I have a video card that can preview the changes faster.

* Not sure what to put on that one empty shelf yet...I tried to put the bow she used in "Bullseye" but it wouldn't fit.

Rendered in DAZ Studio 4.9 w/ Iray, color correction and minor fixes in Photoshop CC. Uses countless items from DAZ and a few from Runtime DNA. Thank you very much for taking a look!

I'd love here. in a heartbeat. I love the feeling that comes over me when I look at this. it feels like home. somewhere safe. the colours the way the sunlight hits the carpet you can really tell how colorful it can get inside. plus the artificial lights. everything comes together really wonderfully. well done. I have looked at thousands of artwork. it helps my anxiety at night. and this is beautiful. great work!
