Thanks for all the votes on the last poll. I'm going to leave it open until tonight, but I've pretty much made up my mind. You're always welcome to leave comments and suggestions though. Here are the results:

10 for: Papa read fairy tales to young Smacky where heroes slay monsters by striking at their soft underbelly; this is why she always tries to strike an opponent's body first.
10 for: There are actual reasons (gorgon height, acid in demonesses, etc)
6 for: A combination or some other reason.
5 for: It's not; Smacky punches them in the face just as often.
3 for: While in her late teens, Smacky was hit in the stomach while combat training.
1 for: Smacky uses body blows and slashes to be different from Eri, who uses flashy acrobatic strikes to an enemy's head and neck.

I personally like the Papa reading fairy tales choice, I think it's both family-friendly and logical. Smacky won't only try to strike at the belly of female enemies, she'll do it to any large monster she encounters (because there weren't actually any demonesses back when she was a child and would have heard these stories).
I am also going to use a few of the actual reasons though. Gorgons are tall and usually raise up to strike, so it's pretty hard to hit them anywhere else. Fire will spill from demonesses wounds if they're slashed or stabbed in the stomach (mainly because I want to avoid using blood if I can help it), but the acid (or whatever) in their stomachs can explain why if necessary. I'll also try to do pics of her hitting demonesses in the face slightly more often.
