Tithe Barn by SoulessEmpathy

www.daz3d.com/tithe-barn
-----------------------------------------

Pros:

* Comes with a ton of camera presets and a lighting setup that gives very good results right out of the box.

* Normal maps work exactly like they should, adding a lot of detail to the rock and wood with no need for displacement or bump maps.

* Most of the textures are tiling, so you can replace them fairly easily if you wanted to.

* This is the only medieval barn I've seen that's large enough to hold both a number of horses and humans. The only alternative I know of is this stable, and it's extremely dated.

Cons:

* The main walls cannot be hidden individually, making camera placement or custom lighting a bit more difficult than it could be.

* The ground plane is huge and would be very useful on its own except that there is a large indentation of sorts left behind if you remove the entire barn.

* Surfaces use a simplified and unusual shader that I have not seen before. There is no Opacity slider (you have to change the Strength color to black to hide anything) and there are no parameters for Bump, Displacement, or anything that is not actually used by the default textures. This isn't a problem if you don't change the materials very much, but I'm not sure how much work it will take to get satisfactory results if you wanted to use the Ubersurface2 shader or another more complex one.

Note: The camera presets all load with the scene and are locked, so don't be surprised if you try to move one and nothing happens. Use the "CameraFree" camera or just add your own if you need one that moves.

Recommended: YES. This set may have a few odd quirks, but it's gigantic, practical, and has good textures. It also doesn't appear to need a lot of material tweaking (and as mentioned above, I don't know how well that would actually turn out).

Sir Worthington for Genesis 2 Male by -esha-

-----------------------------------------

Pros:

* All items contain very useful morphs, including puffy and fold morphs for various parts of the shirt and pants that really change the overall look.

* Items have a good number of material zones, allowing you to hide the boot cuffs and buckle, hide the shirt cuffs if you wanted to add gloves, etc.

* A very good basic set of clothing for medieval male characters. With the right textures, this set should provide clothing for both commoners and more prominent citizens.

Cons:

* Included textures are very simple.

Recommended: YES. I felt like I took a bit of a chance buying this, but it turned out to be a nice versatile set that's surprisingly customizable. The promo images also do not show that you can actually smooth the shirt sleeves and the folds on the vest (both of which are quite useful). If you want a casual and practical outfit for your fantasy males besides this unusually feminine set, Sir Worthington is definitely worth considering.
Glad there was a catch up sale and I was able to properly get the Tithe Barn in my cart this time.  ;)   Updated with a review of some medieval male clothing that you might have overlooked when it first came out.
