Description

I didn't make this, it's just an unedited screenshot I took from Rise of the Tomb Raider on PC. The reason why I posted this is because it's one of the very few times in my 35+ years of gaming that the actual gameplay from a video game looked like the promotional artistic imagery used to advertise it (and often used on the back of the box). How many times have we been fooled into thinking a game was awesome by pre-rendered CG, Photoshopped screenshots, or detailed concept art, only to find out the graphics were less than extraordinary? We may finally be reaching the time where we no longer need to be lied to; where games actually can look as good as art.

Thanks for taking a look!

Very true words you write!  I have never finished the Tomb Raider reboot (on PC) so I decided to finish that before I buy the RoTR.   I am looking forward to it now especially after this post of yours.

When you write about being fooled, I thought of Halo 5 which I've been playing recently.  It's a very beautiful game on certain levels, but the prerendered scenes are absolutely topnotch.  But that detracts (and distracts) since you have jarring bumps in the quality of the graphics.

I had stopped playing Skyrim after the paid mods fiasco.    Over the holidays I decided to reinstall it with some choice graphic enhancements and just a few gameplaying mods.   From your comments below you obviously know how much prettier modded Skyrim can be.    At times I have lost sight  of actually playing Skyrim (and Oblivion, Fallout 3/NV, and even Morrorwind) by being overly zealous in installing that sweet mod combo lol.    BTW if you like Bioware games, the original Mass Effect looks absolutely stellar when modded.
